We know that for many of our members, work can feel like an overwhelming challenge, compounded by the fact that mental illness chips away at our self-confidence and esteem. That's why employment is one of the fundamental building blocks of the Clubhouse — we strive to give every person who wants it a chance to work in the community.

As members begin to grow confidence in themselves, they can channel that renewed sense of purpose into meaningful employment. As our partner in employment opportunities, you can be part of that success story, where members regain that feeling of making a valuable contribution to our society.

Here are the ways you can participate:

Transitional Employment (TE) Supported Employment (SE) Independent Employment (IE)

Transitional Employment (TE)

TE is a highly structured vocational rehabilitation program for members returning to work in community-based business and industry.

Your commitment is:

10-20 hours a week, for a period lasting between six to nine months.
A dedicated place of business
Paid wages

We will provide on- and off-site support from Clubhouse staff and members, such as job-specific training, coaching, and more.

Clubhouse members do not require employer health coverage, vacation, or sick time.
Employees are pre-screened and trained by our placement managers in partnership with your staff.

Supported Employment (SE)

SE is a program where there is an understanding between the employer, the member, and the Clubhouse that Clubhouse staff will support both the member and the employer throughout the work relationship. Although the job belongs to the member, the employer is awarding the position based on the idea that the member will have support as needed from the Clubhouse to complete the work.

Clubhouse staff provide support for the employer by helping on-site with the orientation and training for the member on the job
Clubhouse staff visit the job site to provide encouragement and assistance to the member and employer regularly, graduating to an as-needed basis.
Clubhouse staff connect with the employer regularly via on-site visits, email, or telephone to discuss the member’s performance and the employer’s level of satisfaction, which helps maintain the quality of support.

Independent Employment (IE)

IE is a program of the Clubhouse through which members, when ready, are given help from the Clubhouse to apply for and acquire a job of their own. The Clubhouse then provides ongoing support and encouragement for the member as long as they remain employed and request assistance. There is no on-site support at the place of business for members in IE. All of the support is at the Clubhouse.
